Fresh from his National Grand Prix victory at Ballivor, Moroccan rider Zaid Ali Raad, who is based with Sven Hadley, continued his winning form by claiming the Derryronane Stud-sponsored 1.35m aboard John Chadwick&amp;#39;s B.E. Flygold. The pair produced the fastest clear round in 38.63 seconds. Bred by GBBS International, the nine-year-old gelding is by Stakkato Gold out of Ballypatrick Flight.

Damien Griffin finished second with the Willie Cusack-owned Ardragh DRC Drifter after another faultless round in 39.57 seconds. Bred by Oliver Ward, the seven-year-old gelding is by Ardragh Me O Moy out of the Kannan-sired mare CSF Pippa.

Paul Lynch filled third place with Alan Wheeler&amp;#39;s homebred Cashless. Although one pole down denied them victory, the seven-year-old mare posted a fast time of 44.43 seconds. Cashless is by Ard VDL Douglas out of the VDL Arkansas mare Anabee Arkansas.

Stephen Gibbons continued his recent run of consistent performances, taking fourth with Cassius Z after being the quickest of the four-faulters in the opening round in 68.76 seconds. The pair were victorious in the previous Connacht League round at Glenamaddy and finished second at Duffy&amp;#39;s. Cassius Z, a 14-year-old gelding, is by Canabis Z out of Ginger Sari.

Joyce Veld and Corraghoe Bounce finished fifth after incurring four faults in 73.70 seconds, narrowly ahead of Shane Goggins and Boleybawn Cayman, who also finished on four faults in 73.74 seconds to claim sixth place.

Goggins claims Premier Performance 1.20m

Shane Goggins enjoyed success in the Geraghtys Joinery-sponsored Premier Performance 1.20m, partnering his own Clooncalagy Bobby to a convincing victory with a clear round in 32.84 seconds. The 10-year-old gelding is by VDL Bubalu out of Clooncalagy Lady.

Zaid Ali Raad continued his impressive afternoon by finishing second aboard the Hibernia Horses-owned D&amp;#39;Extase DH Z with a clear in 33.68 seconds, while Stephen Gibbons claimed third with Monroe Stables&amp;#39; LML Capaldi in 43.91 seconds.

Raad also secured fourth place with B.E. Flygold as the fastest of the four-faulters in 33.61 seconds. Nadine Carey and Sacre Bleu took fifth after a single fence down, while Aoife McCabe and Galwaybay Elliot completed the top six.

Kenny leads the way in 1.10m

Nathan Kenny topped the Flexineb by Nortev Connacht Showjumping 1.10m class, producing the fastest of 10 double clears aboard his mount in 29.40 seconds.

Orla Dixon and Prada Royale finished second in 30.72 seconds, followed by Aoife McCabe and CBI Supremacy in 31.29 seconds. Francesca Marriott and KEC Quality Delight claimed fourth, Zara Sharkey and Dowdstown Jordie finished fifth, while Damien Griffin and CSF Cianna rounded out the placings.

Seoighe triumphs in Amateur League

Tomas Seoighe (AA) claimed victory in the Connacht Showjumping Amateur League with Philip McManus&amp;#39;s Flaming Eyes, producing a double clear in 36.39 seconds.

Derrick Burke (AA) and Tyreda Chip finished second with another clear round, while Shauna Wilson took third aboard her own Omard Hannah as the fastest four-faulter. Nathan Kenny (AA), Marie-Claire Rogers (A) and Joanna Hyland (A) completed the top six.

Foley wins Farmers Journal qualifier

Rachel Foley partnered Indra to victory in the Farmers Journal A Championship qualifier, stopping the clock clear in 29.37 seconds.Brian Weir and Corroy Candy finished second ahead of Karen Broderick (AA) and Hermes Van De Heffnick. Brian Tuffy and Abeer took fourth, while Joanna Hyland and Queen Lu finished fifth. Katherina O&amp;#39;Shea and Chianti To HSH completed the placings as the fastest four-faulters.

Geraghty heads Ladies&amp;#39; Horse class

Grace Geraghty and Moy Candy Girl won the Beyond Beauty Ladies&amp;#39; Horse 1.10m after producing a clear round in 34.39 seconds.Rachel Foley and Indra finished a close second in 34.68 seconds, while Michelle Desmond and Georgiana claimed third. Caroline Devine (A), Karen Boylan (A) and Aoife McCabe completed the top six.

Hodgins victorious in Puissance

Andrew Hodgins and Shanaclough Luichew claimed victory in the Harringtons Quarry Puissance after jumping four successive clear rounds. Cian Goggins and You Two Touchdown finished second after lowering a rail in the final round.

Sweeney dominates pony feature

Luke Sweeney enjoyed a memorable day in the 148cm 1.10m pony class, taking both first and second place from a field of 17 starters.He guided Tullymurry Sunshine to victory with a clear in 35.89 seconds before securing the runner-up spot aboard Orchid&amp;#39;s Atilla in 37.01 seconds. Jack Derwin and Rincoola Babog finished third ahead of Amy Roche and Alice Cruise Royale, while Alayna Hawkins and Highburren Rose claimed fifth. James Cleary and Abbi BW completed the top six.

Delaney wins 138cm class

Niamh Delaney and Kisheen recorded the fastest of only two double clears to win the 138cm 1m class in 34.38 seconds. Tim Hawkins and the five-year-old Carraghy Spice were the only other combination to jump double clear, finishing second in 35.21 seconds.

Leonard secures Under 10 title

Joscelyn Leonard and Cefngelli Sherry produced the only double clear in the Equillence Under 10 85cm Connacht Showjumping Open Pony League, taking victory in 61.88 seconds. Cian Murtagh and Little Miss Lightning finished second after four faults.

Derwin takes 128cm honours

Jack Derwin claimed victory in the 128cm 90cm class with Ginger Rodgers, producing a clear round in 27.23 seconds.Ben Hawkins filled both second and third places with Glenford Tammy and LSR Trinity respectively, while Kaleigh Dolan and Ballyskeagh Lady finished fourth. Derwin returned to take fifth aboard Deelside Dolly, with Elaine Briscoe and The Glimmer Man completing the top six.

    <description>The Connaught Horse League moved to Headford Show on Sunday for the third round of the season, with competitors overcoming challenging weather conditions to produce an excellent day of competition. Despite persistent rainfall, spirits remained high among both senior and junior riders.

Fresh from an outstanding performance at Mullingar CSI2*, where he was crowned Leading Young Rider, Stephen Gibbons added another notable victory to his growing record. Riding the experienced stallion Cassius Z, Gibbons claimed the Derryronane Stud 1.35m Grand Prix after producing one of only three double-clear rounds from an eight-horse jump-off field. Their winning time of 44.05 seconds secured a remarkable fourth consecutive Grand Prix victory at Headford Show.

The 15-year-old stallion, by Canabis Z out of Ginger Sari, has enjoyed an exceptional run of form, having recorded two wins and a third-place finish at Mullingar CSI2*.

Another rider returning from a successful week at Mullingar, Zaid Al Radd, finished second aboard B.E Flygold with a clear round in 47.99 seconds. Leading International rider Sven Hadley continued his strong form, taking third place with Machnus Lux in 48.12 seconds.

Hadley later shared top honours in the Puissance competition. Riding Brandonview First Edition, he cleared three rounds alongside Andrew Hodgins and Shanaclough Luichew, resulting in a joint victory.

Hodgins and the John Glynn-owned Shanaclough Luichew were also fastest among the four-faulters in the Grand Prix, finishing fourth in 48.21 seconds. Shane Goggins and Boleybawn Cayman claimed fifth, while Joyce Veld partnered Miley Dunning&amp;rsquo;s Corraghoe Bounce to sixth place.

Premier Performance 1.20m

Zaid Al Radd returned to the winner&amp;rsquo;s enclosure in the Premier Performance 1.20m class aboard B.E Flygold. The combination produced the fastest of ten double-clear rounds, stopping the clock in 32.91 seconds.

Owned by John Chadwick and bred by GBBS International, the nine-year-old gelding is by Stakkato Gold out of Ballypatrick Flight.

Hadley secured second place aboard Make It Easy HSH in 35.83 seconds and later finished fifth with Kannan Contessa. Mark Duffy and Caraghs Trendy Master claimed third, while Kate Derwin and Fuerty Roc took fourth. Young rider Saga Gunnersson completed the top six aboard Lara&amp;rsquo;s Joy.

Flexineb by Nortev 1.10m

Young rider Maeve Coffey led the victory lap in the Flexineb by Nortev 1.10m class aboard Creevaghstables Buttler Jones. The pair recorded a double-clear round in 29.47 seconds.

Bred by Dermot Condon, the nine-year-old gelding is by Buttlers Cravat out of the Roselier-sired mare Denmark Rosie.

Al Radd continued his impressive day by taking second place with Londons Diamant, while Aoife McCabe and Umira Quality finished third. Anna Baynes and Lochan Ramiro placed fourth ahead of Evan Burke with Ballynagran Buzz. Mark Duffy rounded out the top six aboard Manifesto.

Connaught Showjumping Amateur League

Shauna Wilson and Omard Hannah secured victory in the Connaught Showjumping Amateur League, producing the fastest of three double-clear rounds in 31.67 seconds.

Brian Weir and Corroy Candy finished second, while Marie-Claire Rogers and Eris M2S completed the podium. Stephanie Forde and Merlins Vixen finished fourth, followed by Tomas Seoighe and Flaming Eyes in fifth. Aisling Donoghue and Silent Picture took sixth place.

Connaught League Pony Classes

Cian Murtagh won the 128cm Under-10s Connaught League class aboard Little Miss Lightning. Sisters Saoirse and Joscelyn Leonard continued their friendly rivalry, finishing second and third with Kyneton Snipe and Cefngelli Sherry respectively.

Leinster rider Jack Derwin claimed victory in the 128cm 90cm Connaught League class aboard Ginger Rodgers. Sophie Hawkshaw and Ice Ty De Noone finished second, while Elaine Briscoe and The Glimmer Man took third.

Derwin enjoyed a second victory later in the day, delivering a flawless performance aboard the eight-year-old Candy Surprise to win the 138cm 1m class in 24.55 seconds. Amber Tobin and Harry Finn finished second, while Niamh Delaney and Kisheen claimed third.

In the 148cm 1.10m class, Ronan Gilvarry and Dexter Leam Prancer emerged victorious with a clear round in 32.43 seconds. James Cleary and Abbi BW finished second, while Joshua Broderick and Greenfield Star secured third place. Ella Cash and Lightning took fourth, with Gilvarry adding a fifth-place finish aboard Romaround. Luke Sweeney and Sparkling Boomerang&amp;rsquo;s Zehavi completed the top six.

Headford Show once again delivered a successful and competitive day of action, with riders from across the country continuing to battle for valuable Connaught Horse League points as the season progresses.

In the 148 1.10m Incl. HCI Connaught Pony League &amp;amp; Forever Equestrian National Young Pony Series, Sarah Egan and Katie Girl claimed victory after producing one of just three double clears in a winning time of 32.35 seconds. Joshua Broderick took advantage of the longer lines aboard Greenfield Star to secure second place in 35.37, while he also filled third with Maggie&amp;rsquo;s Star after another clear round in 39.30. Alice Curran and the six-year-old Alice Pickle finished fourth with a single fence down in 42.61. Alyna Hawkins occupied fifth and sixth places respectively, partnering Mcg Carrow Cr&#232;me to the fastest four-fault round of the first phase in 86.25, before adding another four faults aboard Highburren Rose in 86.52.

The 138 1m Silver Jumper Roxboro Stud Connaught Pony League &amp;amp; Forever Equestrian National Young Pony Series saw Niamh Delaney and Kisheen lead the victory lap as the only combination to produce a double clear, stopping the clock in 39.57. Sarah Egan and Rebel Gealach delivered an exceptionally quick round, but a costly error left them second in 31.74. Delaney also claimed third place with Rhos Enterprise after picking up a rail in the second round, crossing the line in 36 seconds. Tim Hawkins and the five-year-old Carraghy Spice were the fastest of the four-faulters in the opening round to finish fourth in 108.92. William Lynskey and the six-year-old Ds Hans Off slotted into fifth after two fences down in 90.84, while Ellen Ryan and Farmhill Cailin Dun completed the top six on eight faults in the same time.

Only two competitors managed double clears in the 128 90cm Connaught Pony League &amp;amp; Forever Equestrian National Young Pony Series. Ben Hawkins and Bronheulog Rose Gold proved the quickest, taking the win in 32.48. Thomas Tully&amp;rsquo;s decision to ride the longer lines aboard Almar Chubba Chubba paid off as they secured second place with a clear in 36.55. Hawkins also finished third with Glenford Tammy after recording the fastest four-fault round in 37.02. Elaine Brisco and Strawberry Swirl II suffered a similar fate in the second round and finished fourth in 40.73. Sophie Hawshaw and Ice Ty De Nooe took fifth as the fastest four-faulter from round one in 63.37, while Ben Hawkins rounded out the top six aboard Smokey Astral on four faults in 71.25.

    <description>The second round of the Derryronane Stud 1.35m Grand Prix League took centre stage at Duffy&amp;rsquo;s Equestrian Centre last Sunday, attracting 28 combinations to compete for a lucrative &amp;euro;3,000 prize fund sponsored by O&amp;rsquo;Malley &amp;amp; Co Accountants, Galway.

The competition proved highly competitive, with 14 combinations progressing to the jump-off and eight delivering double-clear performances.

Young rider Stephen Gibbons emerged victorious aboard the impressive eight-year-old gelding Ceide Candy Heart, producing a flawless jump-off round in 32.85 seconds.

Owned by Jane Gibbons and bred by Mary Walsh, Ceide Candy Heart is by Garryduff Jar Of Hearts out of the Sligo Candy Boy mare Ceide Heather Honey. The pair had been unlucky in the opening round of the league, picking up four faults, but made no mistake this time around.

Speaking after his win, Gibbons said he was delighted with both the result and his horse&amp;rsquo;s performance.

&amp;ldquo;I was very happy with the win and how the horse went. I saw Shane Goggins go just before me in the jump-off and he was very quick, so I knew what I had to do.

&amp;ldquo;I took a stride out in the first line, kept everything tight and kept moving forward. My horse is naturally quick and he jumped his heart out.

&amp;ldquo;It was a great result just before the first seven- and eight-year-old qualifier for Dublin next week, which we will be competing in. It was a great show as usual put on by the Duffy family. A special thanks to Dara O&amp;rsquo;Malley for his kind sponsorship of the class, and to everyone involved in our yard.&amp;rdquo;

Last week&amp;rsquo;s winners Shane Goggins and Boleybawn Cayman had to settle for runner-up honours on this occasion, stopping the clock in 34.81 seconds.

Aoife McCabe and Heritage Enigma improved on their fifth-place finish in the opening round to secure third place with a clear in 35.23 seconds. The 11-year-old mare, bred by Anne-Marie O&amp;rsquo;Gorman, is by Eldorado van de Zeshoek.

Fresh from a third-place finish in the 1.40m Grand Prix at Millstreet, Liam O&amp;rsquo;Meara and the stallion Big Dan Rouet slotted into fourth place with a clear in 35.47 seconds.

Joyce Veld and Corraghoe Bounce took fifth place after opting for safe lines in the jump-off, delivering a measured clear in 39.06 seconds. Owned by Miley Dunning, the 14-year-old gelding is by Lux Z out of the Cruising mare Corraghoe Tiger.

Leinster rider Lauren Murphy completed the top six with David Cullen&amp;rsquo;s Coco Du Rona Z, producing a foot-perfect clear round in 40.06 seconds.

Duffy Lands Home Victory in Premier Performance 1.20m

The Gillane Feeds Premier Performance 1.20m attracted a strong entry of 36 combinations, with victory staying on home soil thanks to Mark Duffy and Caraghs Trendy Master.

The winning pair produced a double clear in the two-phase competition, stopping the clock in 32.28 seconds.

Nadine Carey and Sacre Bleu, owned by Deirdre Murnane, were close behind in second on 33.16 seconds, while Lauren Murphy and Cruiceraths Antonio claimed third with a clear in 33.85 seconds.

Shane Goggins and Clooncalagy Bobby took fourth in 35.46 seconds, ahead of Orla Dixon and Castlelawn Lux Special in fifth on 36.70 seconds.

Junior rider Mark Mellett and Love To Be Cruising completed the top six with a clear in 41.50 seconds.

Dixon Dominates Flexineb by Nortev Connaught Showjumping 1.10m League

Orla Dixon took top honours in the Flexineb by Nortev Connaught Showjumping 1.10m League aboard Ravens Mister Rolo, producing the fastest clear round in 29.30 seconds.

Amateur rider Tara Brandon (AA), who finished second the previous week, repeated that result with the eight-year-old Bec Phoenix, clear in 29.89 seconds.

Richard Kerins and Jean Gilligan&amp;rsquo;s six-year-old HHL Markievicz secured third place in 34.41 seconds.

Rachel Parry and Bien Sur finished fourth in 36.09 seconds, narrowly ahead of junior rider Mia Roberts and May Future Ri, who stopped the clock in 36.32 seconds.

Abby Kelehan and Sunset Boy rounded out the top six with a clear in 36.76 seconds.

Devine Claims Amateur League Honours

The Connaught Showjumping Amateur League, which also incorporated a qualifier for the NAPS/Circulo National Amateur League, saw Caroline Devine (A) and Captain Devine take the win with a clear round in 34.62 seconds.

Niamh Quinn (AA) and Clonguish Vivaro finished a close second in 34.78 seconds, while Nathan Kenny (AA) and Lachain Princess were third in 35.46 seconds.

Angela Devaney (A) and SVS Riverstown Aftershock delivered the final double clear in 47.06 seconds to take fourth place.

Liam Hennessy (A) and Leanorth Grey Matter were the fastest of the four-faulters to secure fifth place in 40.33 seconds.

Karen Broderick (AA) and Hermes van de Heffinck completed the top six with four faults in 40.47 seconds.

    <description>The Connaught League got underway last Monday at Galway Equestrian, drawing a large crowd in support of this popular regional series. As in previous years, the Derryronane Stud-sponsored 1.35m class proved a major attraction, with 40 combinations stepping up to compete.

A consistent supporter of the league, Shane Goggins claimed victory in the opening round, partnering Jack Galey&amp;rsquo;s Boleybawn Cayman to a clear in 42.19. The 14-year-old gelding, bred by Ronan Rothwell, is by Cassidee and out of Boleybawn Riverto, a mare sired by Ard VDL Douglas.

From the original field, 10 combinations progressed to the jump-off, with four delivering double clears. Last year&amp;rsquo;s champion, Sven Hadley, came closest to challenging the winning time aboard Tom McGurk&amp;rsquo;s homebred Kannan Contessa, finishing second in 45.70.

Goggins also secured a share of the &amp;euro;3,000 prize fund with another clear round, this time riding Gerard Lynch&amp;rsquo;s eight-year-old mare Lpf Dream of Hope in 47.96. By Asti Spumante and out of The Grey Duchess (by Duca Di Busted), this promising combination also featured at Millstreet the previous week.

Event rider Cathal Daniels delivered a composed performance with CSF Andrew, opting for a steady approach that resulted in a clear round in 53.81 for fourth place. This marked the first outing for the partnership, with the gelding previously campaigned by John McEntee. Daniels also took sixth place with Satelittenflieger K, finishing on four faults in 44.52. The 11-year-old gelding is by Stolzenberg.

Splitting Daniels&amp;rsquo; placings was Aoife McCabe, who recorded four faults with Heritage Enigma in 43.85. The 11-year-old mare, bred by Anne-Marie O&amp;rsquo;Gorman, is by Eldorado Van De Zeshoek.

Premier Performance 1.20m

The Premier Performance 1.20m class attracted the largest entry of the day, with 51 combinations competing. Fresh from his Spring Tour success, Sven Hadley secured victory with Hsh Harper Du Seigneur, producing a clear round in 34.16.

Cathal Daniels, riding under the Duffy banner, took second place with Madame B in 35.78. Third place went to Zaid Ali Raad and B.E Flygold with a clear in 36.19. Ali Raad also claimed fifth place with Canchouetta PS (37.79), while Shane Goggins finished fourth with his own Clooncalagy Bobby in 37.22. James Derwin rounded out the top six aboard Newmarket Victor with a clear in 38.74.

Flexineb 1.10m

Young rider Finn Reynolds claimed victory in the 1.10m class with Technical Tom, an eight-year-old bred at Galway Equestrian. The pair delivered a flawless round in 33.36 to take the win.

Amateur rider Tara Brandon (AA) finished second with Bec Phoenix in 34.54. Zaid Ali Raad continued his strong form, placing again with B.E Flygold in 34.68. Nadine Carey and Sacre Bleu secured fourth with a clear in 36.83, followed by Liam Lynskey and Jazmine Blue in 36.94. Derek Shaw and VMS Dallance Cruise completed the top six in 37.23.

Connaught Showjumping Amateur League

In the amateur league, only two double clears were achieved. Shauna Wilson (A) and her own Omard Hannah proved fastest, stopping the clock at 41.45. Aoileann Nic An Iomaire (AA) opted for a more cautious approach with Kingsday Eurohill, finishing clear in 58.88 for second place.

Katy Nolan (A) and I&amp;rsquo;M A Quality Clover delivered the fastest four-fault round in the second phase, finishing in 32.02 to take third place.

It was a packed and competitive weekend for amateur riders across the country, with several shows drawing strong entries. In the Connaught region, the Connaught Amateur Spring Show at Duffy&amp;rsquo;s proved a standout event, attracting a large and enthusiastic field of competitors.

The action got underway with the Friends of Connaught Amateurs Welcome Stakes, where 15 combinations took to the arena. Naoimh O&amp;rsquo;Gorman Grealish (A) claimed top honours with a polished double clear round in a time of 34.98 seconds. Aisling Hughes (A) partnered with Annaghbeg Cu Chulainn finished close behind in second on 36.18, while sport member Mary McInerney secured third aboard Little Silver Treasure with a clear in 41.17. Christine Rabbitt (A) and her six-year-old Dame Rabbitt (A) slotted into fourth, followed by Aoileann Nic An Iomaire (AA) with Parkroe Amigo Lad in fifth. Paul Tarpey and Chf Kenavo completed the top six.

A competitive field of 25 lined out for the O&amp;rsquo;Brien Cement Power &amp;amp; Speed class, which also incorporated a Farmers Journal Qualifier. Caroline Devine (A) emerged victorious with her eight-year-old Captain Devine, delivering a faultless round in 34.37 seconds. Joanna Hyland (A) continued her strong form to take second with Queen Lu in 35.24, while Ava Vaughan and Carrigshawn Condi secured third place. Rachel Mahon (A) and Stralongford Christine finished fourth, just ahead of Ethan McGorisk and Redbridge Fintan in fifth. Rachel Foley (A) rounded out the placings with a clear round aboard Indra.

The feature class of the weekend, the Jim Derwin Equestrian &amp;amp; Niall Earls Easyfix Amateur Grand Prix, which also served as a NAPS &amp;amp; Circulo League Qualifier, drew 28 starters. Of those, 11 advanced to the jump-off, but only three managed to produce double clear rounds.

Joanna Hyland (A) delivered a standout performance to take the Grand Prix title with her mare Queen Lu, stopping the clock at 38.60 seconds. Nicola Burke and Baronscourth Dancing Boy pushed hard but had to settle for second with a clear in 38.72. Rachel McAlinden (AA) claimed third place with Knockash Flexi, completing the trio of double clears. Tom&#225;s Seoighe (AA) finished fourth after opting for wider lines, while Tara Brandon (AA) was the fastest of the four-fault rounds to take fifth. Rachel Mahon (A) and Stralongford Christine completed the top six.

Overall, the event showcased the depth of talent within the amateur ranks and provided an exciting weekend of showjumping competition in Connaught.
