The Connaught Showjumping Awards

The Connaught Showjumping awards are in line with our value of Rewarding Excellence.

We recognise and reward excellence in performance through prizes, league points, and special awards, including opportunities for interaction with top equestrians. Awards will be provided to:

 

Future Stars

The Future Stars award recognises up-and-coming pony riders in the Connaught Region who show dedication, improvement, and potential at the early stages of their showjumping journey.

 

 

 

  1. Spirit of the Award: Future Stars is not just about results — it's about commitment, character, and potential. Nominations and selection will be based on novice pony riders who show:

     

    • Positive attitude and sportsmanship
    • Visible improvement during the season
    • Effort and consistency in participation
    • Passion for showjumping and willingness to learn
  2. Who Can Nominate:

     

  3. Jumping Level: Riders who have not jumped above the following heights during the season:

     

    • 128cm ponies: up to 80cm
    • 138cm ponies: up to 90cm
    • 148cm ponies: up to 1.00m
    • Intended for novice riders not actively competing in major national leagues or team qualifiers
  4. Inclusion Across Height Bands: Riders from all height bands (128cm, 138cm, 148cm) are eligible.
  5. Participation in Shows: Riders must have attended a minimum of 3 SJI-registered shows in the Connaught Region during the current season.

 

Young Children Special Recognition Award & Newcomers

  • All participants in the Walter Reape 50cm League Final
  • Members of winning U8 teams at National Pony Championships
  • Walter Reape 50cm League Regional Winner
  • Walter Reape 50cm Overall League Winner
  • Participants or winners of 50cm and 60cm Interprovincial Finals
  • Newcomers Champion and Runner-up at the Connaught Region Pony Championships

 

Under 10 Riders

  • Connaught Region Pony Championships U10 Champion
  • U10 Pony League Winner
  • Winners of any U10 pony league leg
  • Participants or winners in U10 Interprovincial Finals
  • Overall Pony Premier League Winner
  • Winners of U10 Pony Premier and Spring Tour legs
  • Winners of the Future Champion U10 Series
  • Regional winners of any national league
  • Winners of U10 championship at National Pony Championships Finals Day

 

128cm Riders

  • Pony Championships 128cm Novice and Open Champions
  • 128cm Pony League Winner and leg winners
  • Qualified or placed in RDS 128cm events
  • Winners of 128cm national or interprovincial finals, leagues, and tours

 

138cm Riders

  • Pony Championships 138cm Novice and Open Champions
  • 138cm Pony League Winner and leg winners
  • Qualified or placed in RDS 138cm events
  • Winners of 138cm national or interprovincial finals, leagues, and tours

 

148cm Riders

  • Pony Championships 148cm Novice and Open Champions
  • 148cm Pony League Winner and leg winners
  • Qualified or placed in RDS 148cm events
  • Winners of 148cm national or interprovincial finals, leagues, and tours

 

International Pony Results

  • Represented Ireland at Pony Europeans
  • European Medal Winners

  • Participants or winners of Pony World Series Final

 

Retiring Riders

Special awards will be presented to all retiring riders registered in Connaught in 2024.
